UP obtained three new research projects within the Targeted Research Program "Zagotovimo.si hrano za jutri" (Ensuring food for tomorrow)

The University of Primorska obtained three new research projects in the ARRS public tender for the selection of research projects within the Targeted Research Program "Ensuring food for tomorrow".

 

The lead partner of the first project entitled "Prospects for further development of wine and gastronomy tourism on farms" VINGATUR will be UP FTŠ Turistica, joined by researchers from UP FAMNIT. The € 150,000 project will connect three universities (in addition to the University of Primorska, the University of Ljubljana and the University of Maribor will also participate), and will provide for the analysis of the market potential of wine and gastronomy tourism on tourist farms, the identification of the needs of agricultural operators for more effective integration into the tourism market and the identification of good practices in wine and gastronomy tourism in Slovenia and selected European countries. Based on that, a proposal of measures shall be prepared for the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Food of the Republic of Slovenia, aiming towards a more harmonious rural development, focused on wine and gastronomy tourism and education, training, and dissemination of project results.

In the »Carnivores affect ungulates: determination of species-specific predation rate and the importance for management« project, UP FAMNIT acts as a project partner (the project manager will be prof. Elena Bužan), whereas the lead partner is the University of Ljubljana, Biotechnical Faculty. In the biotechnology project  "Management strategies and control of Salmonella Infantis infections in broiler flocks", the Veterinary Faculty of the University of Ljubljana is the lead partner, whereas UP FVZ is the paticipating partner with prof. Darja Barlič Maganja as project manager.
