The University of Primorska spreads knowledge on cultural tourism

On 15 July 2019 the University of Zadar opened the international summer school on cultural tourism. Renown experts In the field of cultural tourism, among them is UP FTŠ Turistica’s prof. Aleksandra Brezovec, the coordinator of the University of Primorska in the UNESCO UNITWIN network for culture, tourism and development.

Between 15 and 20 July 2019 the Department of Tourism and Communication Sciences at the University of Zadar is hosting the leading world known professionals for tourism and culture, who will spread modern knowledge and competencies for managing cultural tourism destinations: Nevenka Čavlek, from the Faculty of Economics at the University of Zagreb, ranked among 18 leading economists in the field of tourism economics in the world, Jafar Jafari form the University of Wisconsin-Stout, winner of the UNWTO’s Ulysses award, one of the founding members of the International Academy for the Study of Tourism and one of the editors of the Encyclopaedia of Tourism; member of the Cultural Tourism Department in the UNESCO-UNITWIN network for culture, tourism and development (Paris – Sorbonne): Yoel Mansfeld (University of Haifa, Israel) and Aleksandra Brezovec (University of Primorska, Faculty of Tourism Studies Turistica, Slovenia); Danijela Angelina Jelinčić (Institute for Development and International Relations, Croatia), (co)author of various strategic documents, studies and plans for managing cultural tourism and cultural tourism expert at the Council of Europe, consultant at culture-tourism projects and member of the Culturelink network; Vinko Bakija, Department for Tourism and Communication Sciences at the University of Zadar, cultural tourism expert and author of many cultural routes.

The University of Primorska has been a full member of the UNESCO UNITWIN network “Culture, tourism, development” with the head office at the Parisian Sorbonne University since 2014 and is therefore recognised as one of the leading universities in the field of cultural tourism. The membership has been obtained through the work and dedication of the Department for Cultural Tourism and Cultural Heritage at the Faculty of Tourism Studies Turistica.
